Join our Teen Librarian, Sarah O’Brien as we get ready to launch a podcast! Teen Space is a podcast dedicated to all things YA Lit! We’ll be talking about the origin of YA Literature, the trashy, cheesy and very beloved books from the 80s/90s, teen horror and lots of other topics with guests for each episode.

We have a lineup of authors, literary podcasters and influencers, coworkers and other YA librarians.

The other great part, the teens who join our Teen Advisory Board will get a chance to be on the podcast and will learn basic audio engineering skills along the way!

This podcast will become available on all podcast platforms over the next few weeks. Follow us today on Spotify by clicking here, follow our Teen Space Facebook page by clicking here, and look for episodes this September!

Starting this month, Beaumont Library is lending mobile hotspots and Chromebooks to the public.  Cardholders will be able to check out these technology items for up to two weeks, or for a three-day rapid check out period intended for time-sensitive situations.

The new program is funded through the California State Library by a grant paid for by the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, passed to assist those impacted by Covid-19 and is intended to provide connectivity to people without Internet access at home.

Three hotspots and five Chromebooks are available for a two-week check out period, while three Chromebooks and two Chromebook/hotspot bundles are reserved for rapid-return, three-day check out periods.

Patrons must to come to the library to check out the items they want after signing a waiver agreement.  All of the technology hardware will be lent on a first-come-first-serve basis with no holds allowed, and there is a 24-hour waiting period after returning items before a patron can check out a Chromebook and/or hotspot again.

All items come in protective cases and to insure their safety must be returned in the library, not in the library's outside book drops.

Connect to the world through the Beaumont Library District

Beaumont Library District was established in August 1911 and the building, funded by Andrew Carnegie, was opened in 1914. An addition was built in 1965 and a community room was built in 1981. You can find a current floor plan (PDF) of the library online.

The library is a special "library services" district and is independent of both city and county governments. We currently serve over 80,000 residents of the city of Beaumont, unincorporated Cherry Valley, and unincorporated areas of Riverside County, all of which lie within the District boundaries. Visit www.districtsmakethedifference.org for more information on special districts in California.

Learn more about the library and see what your library is worth with this return on investment calculator. For example, in 2014-15 the library circulated approximately 64,297 children's books, 30,249 adult books, and 49,629 videos. Add to that 20,167 reference questions answered, 10,144 computer sessions, and 23,765 program attendees, and you get an estimated value of $2,235,050.00. That's a pretty good return on your investment.
